Workplace Investigations

Provincial and federal legislation requires that employers conduct investigations into allegations of harassment and workplace violence. The process, however, can be challenging for all parties involved (the complainant, the respondent, and the employer). Harassment investigations can also take a toll on others in the workplace.

Why hire Resolutions At Work?

  • As trained lawyers, we have the necessary skills to assess credibility, weigh evidence, and make the appropriate findings of fact.
  • Our goal is to conduct investigations as efficiently as possible, minimizing the impact on the individuals involved and the workplace as a whole.
  • We strive to treat everyone with care and compassion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A typical workplace investigation can take several weeks, even months, from beginning to end. This timeline, of course, can change depending on the number of allegations, witnesses, and complexity of the issues. Availability of the parties can also impact the timeline.

Our investigators charge by the hour.  After we have discussed the potential mandate, we will provide the anticipated number of hours required to complete the investigation.

If issues arise throughout the investigation that might push the total cost outside of the initial estimate, we will discuss this with you prior to taking any further steps, and work with you to address these issues in as cost-efficient a manner as possible.

 It is our goal to, at all times, ensure there is transparency and open communication with respect to your fees and how we bill.

An external investigator is appropriate in the following scenarios:

  • sensitive allegations;
  • complex issues; and/or
  • an internal investigator could no be neutral.
